Best Burger

Our “Best Burger” events have become a time for our family of members to share their thoughts, ideas and hopes so it was fitting that our October event was at Rosie’s Grill in Daphne, as this grill is dedicated to a family. The history and name of Rosie’s Grill comes from Mama “Rosie” Garza and daughter Rosalinda Lopez, also known as “Little Rosie”, who started at a little café in Fairhope. By the 3rd year Mama Rosie added some home cooking. She made chips and salsa, chili, tacos, enchiladas, nachos, and burritos and something new around here… pico de gallo. Sales and word of mouth took off. Mama Rosie worked the Mexican side and Little Rosie the grill. In 2010 the current owner Harry Johnson opened the new location for Rosie’s Grill and dedicated it to these two loving, hard working women. A history of family sharing their thoughts, ideas and hopes.

The restaurant offers tables indoors and out, but the back room of Rosie’s offers the open air of a patio which was perfect for this night. It’s very family friendly and has a beautiful stone fireplace for those nights when it’s cooler. A perfect spot to share with your family, friends and business partners. The wait staff were very helpful (which you will read below I needed for my burger) and very quick when we ordered our drinks and entrees.

Their kitchen is led by executive chef Michael Sullivan, who is an award winner! On Saturday, October 24th, Rosie’s Grill took top honors in the City of Fairhope Forrest Gumbo Cook-Off. Bravo to Michael and your staff! Michael continues the tradition of offering the Mexican flavors of Mama Rosie (you have to try Mama Rosie’s Taco) along with a fantastic selection of salads, wraps, entrees, and our target for the night, burgers. Their burger is a 100% certified Angus beef patty on a Kaiser roll with lettuce, tomato and pickles on the side. And the best part for me were the options, sort of build your own “best burger”. Options include 4 different cheeses, bacon, portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, jalapenos, avocado slices or pineapple. I had trouble deciding, but after asking for recommendations I chose cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and avocado slices. Fantastic!

I enjoyed the company of each of our members that were able to join us, and would like to thank each one of them for attending. Please become part of our tradition and join us at our next “Best Burger” event at Big Daddy’s Grill, Wednesday, November 18th, 5:30pm.
